Eco-elots tearing SUV tires in NYC attack luxury cars in Chicago, San Francisco and Scranton

Eco-zealots are cutting tires on SUVs around the world in an effort to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

The Tire Extinguishers movement, which started in the United Kingdom, has spread to the United States and leaders have promised to ‘massively expand’ in the coming weeks.

New York City was hit hard by the group last month when about 40 SUVs in the Upper East Side were deflated.

Residents in Chicago; San Francisco, California; and Scranton, Pennsylvania were also targeted by the climate activists.

The group is most prominent in the UK and Europe, where activists have reportedly cut more than 5,000 bonds since the movement launched in March.

The Tire Extinguishers claim that SUVs and 4×4 cars ‘are a disaster for our health, our public safety and our climate’.

The group claims that officials and politicians have ‘failed to protect us from this danger’, so they have chosen to take action into their own hands.

“We want to make it impossible to own an enormously polluting 4×4 in the urban areas of the world,” the group’s website states.

‘We do this by emptying the tires (sic) of these massive, redundant cars, causing congestion and cost to their owners.’

The group, which publishes its slashing efforts online, took credit for emptying 40 tires in Manhattan last month. Members also focused on 20 cars in Chicago, 20 in Scranton and at least 23 in San Francisco.

Tire Extinguishers claims the group is also active in Arizona and Colorado, but has not released slashing data for either state.

A spokesman for Tire Extinguishers said Fox News the group is working on its expansion into America.

“It can happen anywhere, anytime,” the spokesman warned. ‘If you read this and you have an SUV, then delete it before we get to it.’

‘We did this because driving in urban areas in your massive car has enormous consequences for others,’ reads the brochure, asking owners to ‘take it personal’.

‘The world is facing a climate crisis. We take action into our own hands because our governments and politicians do not. ‘

The activists noted that electric and hybrid cars are also being targeted, as they are also leaving a carbon footprint.

“The Tire Extinguishers want to see a ban on SUVs in urban areas, pollution charges to tax SUVs out of existence, and massive investment in free, comprehensive public transport,” the group said Fox News in June.

‘But until politicians make this a reality, the action of Bandenblussers will continue.’

The group placed similar flyers on the cars facing San Francisco, SF Gate reported. The Bay Area was hit last week.

Tire Extinguishers spokeswoman Marion Walker told the newspaper that the attack was the ‘first action in the Bay Area’, but that more demonstrations were pending.

Walker also noted the autonomous character of the group ‘prevents other members from knowing who is bonding and where.’

‘We encourage people to target rich urban areas, but SUVs are a threat everywhere. This is an emergency, “Walker added.

‘Repeating tires and encouraging others to do the same will turn the small overload of a flat tire into a gigantic obstacle to driving massive killer cars around our streets.’

The group’s website provides tips for activists to clear bonds quickly. It also has a copy of the folder that can be printed and placed on windshields.
