Unity Mitford, a notorious debutante and socialite from 1930s Britain, was infamously devoted to Adolf Hitler and expressed virulent anti-Semitism. The Daily Mail has uncovered her diary entries, revealing her obsession with the Nazi leader and hints at a possible romantic relationship. Their close bond led to speculation about sexual involvement, igniting curiosity over her influence on him during a tumultuous period. Following Britain’s declaration of war, Unity attempted suicide but survived and returned to Britain, later dying from her injuries. The Mail’s podcast series, “Hitler’s British Girlfriend,” explores her scandalous life and legacy across four episodes.

She was perhaps the most notorious of the six sisters who graced British high society in the 1930s.

Unity Mitford was a debutante, a socialite, and, most controversially, a rabid anti-Semite who worshiped Adolf Hitler.

In a world exclusive, the Daily Mail has tracked down Unity’s diary entries as she explores her love for the Nazi dictator.

For the past eight months, a team led by Sandra Parsons, the Mail’s literary editor, has been working on a project that brings Unity’s personal musings to the public for the first time.

The Mail podcast, which debuted yesterday, revealed Unity’s own words at length, allowing listeners to judge for themselves about her scandalous life.

Spanning four episodes, Hitler’s British Girlfriend: The Secret Diary of Unity Mitford explores every sordid detail recorded by the debutante.

It also delves into Unity’s repeatedly expressed horrifying hatred of Jews. Her words are, as our literary editor puts it, “unrelentingly and appallingly anti-Semitic.”

And to dispel any doubts about its authenticity, the diary has undergone rigorous testing by a forensic laboratory.

In a world exclusive, the Daily Mail has tracked down Unity’s diary entries as she explores her love for the Nazi dictator.

Unity became known as “Hitler’s British Girlfriend” because of how close she was to the giant dictator.

They met dozens of times, including at his apartment in Munich. Their closeness gave rise to suggestions that the two may have had a sexual relationship.

As the Mail podcast reveals, Unity left interesting hints in his diary that his bond with Hitler may have been more than platonic.

The first episode of the podcast details how Unity became obsessed with Hitler and why the Nazi leader spent time alone with a woman half his age as war clouds loomed over Europe. I am asking him if he was spending his time there.

The series then explores how Unity went from a popular debutant to a committed fascist and anti-Semite.

It also reveals Unity’s revelations about Hitler’s state of mind in the run-up to the conflict with Britain.

The fact that Unity, like her five sisters, was very beautiful may have helped in her attempts to needle her into the good books of Hitler’s affections and other leading Nazis.

She became so close to the Führer that her long-time girlfriend Eva Braun saw her as a rival. She wrote that she was told by her photographer lover that there was a “replacement” for her.

But when Britain declared war on Germany on September 3, 1939, after Hitler ordered the invasion of Poland, Unity was left in despair.

She was so distraught that she decided to take her own life in the most gruesome way.

Unity took a pistol to the English Garden in Munich and shot himself in the head.

But surprisingly, the debutante survived. She continued to receive the best medical care on Hitler’s orders and was then flown back to Britain.

Unity died eight years later from the brain injury caused by the first bullet. But the story didn’t end there.

More than 50 years later, when Unity returned to Britain with severe injuries, bombshell claims surfaced that she may have been pregnant with Hitler’s child.

Unity sat with Nazi leaders. The fact that Unity, like her five sisters, was very beautiful likely helped her try to win Hitler’s affections.

An article in the New Statesman suggested that she may have secretly given birth in a nursing home in rural Oxfordshire, and that her child was then put up for adoption.

There was absolutely no conclusive evidence for this claim.

But as the Mail’s new podcast reveals, Unity grew close enough to Hitler to be more than friends behind closed doors.

Listen to every episode of the new podcast and judge for yourself about what really happened.
