London, UK, 03 March – Delio raised an additional $ 8.3 million to enable financial institutions of all sizes to create greater investor access to alternative assets such as private equity, private debt and real estate.
Fintech, which digitizes the private market strategies of major banks, wealth managers and other financial firms, has received support from Octopus Ventures, one of Europe’s most active venture capital investors. The additional investment from early lenders Maven Capital Partners brings the total equity financing raised by Delio to $ 15.5 million.
Private markets have become increasingly attractive to both institutional and private investors. Over the past decade, the size of the private equity market alone has tripled to US $ 6 trillion. The pandemic has further accelerated this demand as investors turned to alternative assets for their resilience, long-term returns and diversity of opportunities.
Financial institutions have generally struggled to offer illiquid investment opportunities on a scalable basis despite growing investor interest. With this question reaching a critical point, they face the strategic decision to adapt and digitize or risk losing customers in an increasingly competitive market. This dilemma will only intensify when recent legislative changes in the US2 and Europe have broadened the pool of investors who can access certain alternative assets, such as private equity3.
Delio’s technology has played a central role in helping companies transform the way they offer unlisted investment opportunities to their clients. Digitizing the private investment cycle from start to finish allows financial institutions to offer a more intuitive investment experience, improve their operational efficiency, and gather valuable user insights. Data-driven platforms also aim to strengthen client-advisor relationships and build stronger governance frameworks around the investment process.
Headquartered in the UK and with teams operating globally, Delio powers the private market platforms of more than 90 financial institutions around the world, including Barclays, UBS and Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank.
The $ 8.3 million investment will further enhance Delio’s international operations and lay the foundation for its infrastructure for non-conflicting private markets. This digital network will connect capital collectors, financial institutions and investors on a global scale and share investment opportunities from institution to institution.
Said Gareth Lewis, CEO and co-founder of Delio:
“With investor demand at an all-time high, there is a lot of buzz about how institutions break through traditional barriers to private markets. We took a different approach, creating white label technology that serves as digital building blocks on which companies can scale their offerings. Octopus Ventures Growth Financing validates this approach and strengthens our plan to stimulate greater connectivity between financial institutions, capital collectors and investors. “
Edward Keelan, Investment Principal, Octopus Ventures, said:
“Financial institutions involved in private markets face complex challenges regarding deal distribution, regulatory governance, and overall client experience when recommending private investments to clients. Delio’s market-leading technology solution for private companies is already serving some of the largest global asset managers, private and investment banks in the world, with this funding round enabling Delio to continue improving its suite of solutions for private market infrastructures, as well as expanding into new geographic areas. Additionally, there is a strong alignment between Delio and Octopus in making private company investments more available to all investors and we look forward to supporting the team on this journey. ”
Delio is a UK-based fintech, operating in Europe, North America, Asia and Australia. Its technology helps financial institutions connect their clients with private investment opportunities in a fast, transparent and compliant way.
