According to a 64-year-old comedy star, the cloth woman is often nicknamed “Geraldine” after the Sitcom character. She always answers “I’m sorry”.

Talking to presenter Rylan-Clark-Neal on the Ry-Union podcast, Ms. French said she chatted with Joy Carroll, one of the first female bikers, to study her character.

“She just opened her heart.”

“I thought this was my kind of baby.” She now lives in the United States and married an American preacher.

Geraldine Granger returned to the BBC last year for a series of short films, recording various moments of the pandemic.
