The man accused of attacking Dave Chapel on the Hollywood Bowl stage will not be charged with a crime.
Prosecutors have ruled that as long as there was criminal behavior, the evidence did not constitute criminal behavior.
The Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office has referred the case to the Los Angeles Attorney’s Office, which will consider possible charges.
A spokesman for the prosecutor’s office said: “The district attorney’s office is not prosecuting crimes within the city of Los Angeles.”
In the United States, crimes classified as crimes are considered more serious and carry a heavier penalty, while crimes are considered less serious, although they can still result in fines or imprisonment.
The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) later arrested 23-year-old Isaiah Leewho was carrying a spear of a pistol containing a knife blade, suspected of assault with a deadly weapon.
The incident happened when Chappelle closed the show and thanked comedians who had performed before it, including Chris Rock, Leslie Jones and John Stewart.
Hollywood star Jamie Foxx, a close friend of Chappelle’s, took the stage to check if the comic was OK before reportedly helping to detain the alleged attacker.
Chapel later issued a statement through his spokesman, noting that his four-day stint at the Hollywood Bowl linked him to Monty Python for the comedian’s most-titled show.
The statement added that Chappelle refused to allow last night’s incident overshadow the magic of this historic moment“.
Chappelle had previously faced a backlash over comments about transgender people in his special Netflix comedy The Closer.
