Danny Miller’s fiancée Steph Jones has revealed his appearance on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! was a ‘really difficult decision’ as they welcomed their son Albert just four weeks ago.
Steph appeared on Monday’s episode of Lorraine with the tot in her arms as she discussed her partner joining the ITV show.
She said: ‘We’ve just spent two weeks in isolation together ahead of the show and I think we feel quite privileged he got asked to be a part of the show because it meant we spent so much quality time together before he went in.
Tough: Danny Miller’s fiancée Steph Jones has revealed his appearance on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! was a ‘really difficult decision’ as they welcomed their son Albert just four weeks ago
‘It was a really difficult decision for him to decide whether to do it being so close to the birth, but actually, when we sat down and discussed it as a family, it’s such a massive opportunity – the biggest show on the telly. He’s always wanted to do it, it’s his favourite show to watch.’
Lorraine asked if Albert will be watching it back in years to come, to which Steph replied: ‘I hope he’s going to be a bit braver than his dad’.
On Danny being scared in the helicopter going into camp, she explained: ‘He doesn’t like rollercoasters though. We go to a theme park with our nieces and nephews, I go on the ride and he watches.’
‘We went on holiday to Lanzarote and he decided he was going to try and test himself – he ordered some battered squid. One bite, he was retching.’

Danny has been voted to do the next Trial called the ‘Castle’s Dreaded Diner’ which Steph admitted he will find difficult.
She said: ‘This was the trial he was dreading the most because he has got a very, very bad gag reflex. He gagged over Albert’s nappy in isolation. He did one particularly bad one and he was gagging – he had to run out of the room.’
Steph told how Danny, who plays Aaron Livesy on Emmerdale, has always wanted to appear on I’m A Celeb and sees it as a potential opportunity to branch out from acting.
She said: ‘This is the biggest opportunity of his career – he’s been in Emmerdale for 13 years and he wanted to open the door maybe to a different career path.
She said: ‘We’ve just spent two weeks in isolation together ahead of the show and I think we feel quite privileged he got asked to be a part of the show because it meant we spent so much quality time together before he went in’
‘It means he has longer time off with Albert next year rather than working Monday to Friday 7 until 7. I got the better half of the deal!’
Of his time in the camp, Steph reckons he won’t get bored as ‘he’s quite good at making entertainment’ and will keep people going.
She also revealed that ‘he’s in awe of David Ginola. He’ll have so many questions. He’s a massive football fan.’
Steph added she thinks the tears will flow when he gets the famous letter from home in the camp.
She added: ‘It was a really difficult decision for him to decide whether to do it being so close to the birth, but actually, when we sat down and discussed it as a family, it’s such a massive opportunity’
She said: ‘He wears his heart on his sleeve too – he’s not afraid to show emotion. You’ll definitely see some tears. He’s a big softie. He’s lovely.’
The couple were elated when they discovered they were expecting in February after coming close to tuning to IVF treatment after a year of trying to conceive.
Speaking of becoming a father, Danny told OK! Magazine: ‘Yeah, I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous, I think it’s good nerves, though.
But sometimes I do get a bit like. “Oh God, what if I do this wrong? I’m nervous about that but I think to learn and to grow, you’ve got to learn on the job.’

Fears: It comes after Danny previously admitted that he was ‘nervous’ about becoming a dad for the first time as his and Steph’s due date edges nearer
Danny announced his engagement to Steph in May after two years together, after originally meeting in primary school, at the same time they shared the news they’d welcomed their first child.
He proposed at a candlelit beach dinner in St Lucia in January – a trip Steph had booked for his 30th birthday celebrations.
He revealed that fellow Emmerdale stars Kelvin Fletcher and Ryan and Adam Thomas will be at the top of the wedding guest list.
During his lengthy tenure on the soap (he first appeared on Christmas Eve 2003) Danny has portrayed scenes involving sexual abuse, kidnapping, prison and Aaron coming to terms with his sexuality.
