Cubic Transportation Systems extends Europe’s footprint with a contract to enhance the National Transport Authority’s Leap offering
Cubic Corporation today a Cubic Transport Systems A business division (CTS) will execute a contract through National Transport Authority of Ireland (NTA) to be the operations service provider for the transport authority’s TFI Jump Card system. Cubic will operate, maintain and enhance the current Leap system to align with future NTA transport goals. The operational services to be provided are IT operations; contact center services; card management; payment processing; financial and reporting services; and working to establish an extensive retail network through An Post.
“With the continued expansion of Leap throughout Ireland and the introduction of additional bus operators, Leap’s operations will change significantly over the next five to ten years,” said David Wear, general manager of GLE, Cubic Transportation Systems. “Our staff have created the experience and attitudes of transport to actively adapt to the changing transport landscape, and we are confident in our ability to provide the highest quality service.”
Cubic’s delivery team includes a mix of new partners, such as An Post, Microsoft and EasyTrip, as well as existing providers, including Payzone and Paragon ID.
The Cubic solution will streamline interfaces and enable low-friction transitions as demonstrated in transition programs for Transport for London, the Metropolitan Transportation Commission in the San Francisco Harbor Area, and the Chicago Transportation Authority.
To date, over five million smartcards have been issued through the Leap system and Iarnród Éireann, Bus Átha Cliath, Luas, Go Ahead Ireland, Bus Éireann and a number of licensed private bus operators serve over 167 million journeys.
Cubic began its work with the NTA in 2019 when it was awarded a contract to provide Ireland with a scalable mobile ticketing system.
