May 6, 2022: CREST, the international nonprofit accreditation and certification body for the cybersecurity industry, has appointed Nick Benson as its new CEO. He joins CREST from his position as Chief Operating Officer of ORX, the largest global trade association that supports operational risk management in financial services. He previously held executive roles across the finance and risk management divisions of Nationwide Building Society, one of the largest retail financial services providers in the UK.
“I would like to welcome Nick to the CREST global community,” said Rowland Johnson, president of CREST. “He has a proven track record of building and leading teams through expansion and transformation and during his time at ORX has led an organizational change program and delivered strong growth and improved quality of service. It is a very challenging time for the cybersecurity industry as it faces a rapidly changing landscape of threats and Nick’s knowledge and experience will be vital in supporting CREST members and driving the next steps in CREST development. ”
Benson began his career at KPMG in its IT advisory divisions in London and Sydney and qualified as a Chartered Accountant (ICAS) in 2005. He also holds a BA in accounting and finance from the University of Exeter.
As CEO, Benson will work closely with the senior management team alongside CREST President Rowland Johnson, who will focus on representing the business and growing it internationally.
“CREST is respected throughout the international cybersecurity industry,” said Nick Benson. “I am delighted to have the opportunity to lead the CREST team at a time when it is about to reach over 300 members and is investing in new exams and accreditation on a global scale. This is a new chapter in the CREST story, and I look forward to participating. ”
