Connecticut mother who took sexual videos of minors is being released from a 90-day prison sentence

IN Connecticut socialite pleading guilty to secretly admitting minors to sexual acts has been released from prison prior to her conviction.

Hadley Palmer, 53, was pictured Wednesday leaving the York Correctional Institute, where she has been held since Feb. 4.

She faces between 90 days and five years in prison after admitting the crimes in January.

Palmer chose to serve 90 days for her conviction on August 2, where she could receive a much stricter prison sentence.

Palmer was arrested last October, and pleaded guilty in January to three orders of voyeurism and the risk of injury to a minor after prosecutors claimed she had “knowingly three people” photographed, filmed and recorded in her $ 10 million mansion in 2017 and 2018 without her knowledge.

Those three persons were minors – with one under the age of 16.

But as part of the deal, the two most serious charges against Palmer, a mother of four, were dropped – the use of a minor in an obscene act and the possession of child pornography.

Not much is known about the specifications of the case against them, as a judge ruled that the case should be sealed – saying that the need to protect the young victims was greater than the public’s right to know about the procedure.

Palmer will also have to register as a sex offender under her plea agreement.

Judge John Blawie has previously decided to keep her court documents sealed to protect the identities of the victims.

Judge John Blawie has previously decided to keep her court documents sealed to protect the identities of the victims.

In court on Wednesday, Judge John Blawie asked whether the state was satisfied with the 90 days Palmer had already served in prison or if prosecutors would seek more jail time for Palmer, who was arrested for the first time last year.

‘The court’s question is this: does the state now consider the 90 days that the defendant has just served in conformity sufficient for the period of imprisonment you are requesting at sentencing?’ Blawie asked, according to the Middletown Press.

“Absolutely not,” replied Assistant State Attorney Daniel Cummings.

And before she was released, the press reported, her lawyer Michael Meehan asked the court to change the terms of her release to remove her GPS monitoring.

He would also have asked that the state impose a condition prohibiting them from owning cellular or electronic devices.

Cummings eventually agreed, as long as all camera functionality is permanently disabled.

It remains unclear what exactly Palmer did with the minors, as Judge Blawie ruled in February that the entire file should be sealed to protect the identities of the victims and that opening it up while editing some of the documents would inevitably lead to the identification of the minor victims, one of whom police said was at least 15 years old.

‘Between 2017 and 2018, the suspect deliberately photographed, filmed and photographed certain persons without their knowledge or permission, and in circumstances where those persons were not in sight, and had a reasonable expectation of privacy, and at least one photograph made by the suspect depicting a person who was a minor, ‘he wrote.

Following her arrest in October, Hadley filed an application for a special probationary program known as “accelerated rehabilitation” that immediately sealed the case.

It is a program reserved for first time offenders. It can be applied to suspects charged with Class C felonies, but only with ‘good cause’.

The whole case raises questions about whether Palmer, the daughter of hedge fund pioneer Jerrold Fine, gets preferential treatment because of her extreme privilege.

Property records indicate that Palmer lived in a $ 10 million home in Belle Haven, Connecticut, at the time of the alleged crimes in 2017 and 2018.

She also owns a property nearby, on the waterfront, for an estimated $ 3 million.

Her children attended prestigious private schools such as The Wharton School, and she was popular on the Connecticut social circuit, regularly featured at various gala events.

Legal experts tell the Associated Press – whose reporters oppose the seal – that it was a very unusual move for their case to be sealed immediately and many say they were not even eligible for accelerated rehabilitation.

They demand to know why she was able to hide from the public, while other suspects did not.

Meanwhile, a psychologist has also been charged in the case for not reporting what she did.

Dr Jerome Brodlie was accused of deliberately failing to report Palmer’s alleged crimes to the authorities – as he is legally obliged to do.

Hadley Palmer also filed for divorce from her financier Bradley in June 2020, with court documents revealing that he sought access to her social media for evidence of an affair.

Divorce records indicate that wealthy financier Bradley Palmer was suspicious of Hadley, the New York Times reported.

It is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving the post.

Bradley has not yet commented on his wife’s arrest, but, reports the Middletown Press, he is now only sought custody of their youngest child, that is, minor.

The couple is understood to have four children together, three of whom are considered young adults.
