Chris Martin of Coldplay surprises customers with a performance at a pub Ents & Arts News

A pub owner said he felt Glastonbury had been brought to him after Coldplay frontman Chris Martin stopped by and played the lucky piano.

Chris Parkin, 47, described “the most surreal five minutes” when the star and his girlfriend, actress Dakota Johnson, visited The Stag Inn at the Hinton Charterhouse late Sunday afternoon.

The singer and songwriter jumped on the piano after a couple at the pub, who are currently planning their wedding, mentioned that their first song would be Coldplay’s A Sky Full of Stars.

Mr Parkin said Martin asked him if he wanted to play.

In a video posted by the pub, the star asks the couple for their names before releasing their band’s hit song in the room.

The owner of the pub said: “It was a really brilliant, brilliant moment.

“It’s always a bit of a shock, stuff like that.

“It was one of those things where you say ‘Yes, it’s happening,'” he added.

Mr Parkin said he had been to every Glastonbury since 1995, but after he had stopped visiting in the last few years, he did not feel as if he had missed this trip due to Martin’s visit.

“I had the feeling that Glastonbury had visited me,” he added.

“I saw their first concert in Glastonbury and I saw every other Glastonbury they’ve ever done, so I’ve watched them develop as a band.

“Love them or hate them, they’re part of British culture, aren’t they? That’s the job.”

When Martin first entered the pub, Mr. Parkin said he had seen Martin and said he “looked a little like Chris Martin.”

“And his AP said, ‘Yes, this is Chris Martin,'” he added.

The owner of the pub said he did not recognize Dakota Johnson until the staff in the kitchen identified her.

He also introduced Martin to his 13-year-old son, Alfred, who is a novice pianist.
