Broken heart as “the loneliest bear in the world” dies during surgery after eventually pairing with a male lover

“The loneliest bear in the world” died during surgery after finally being paired with a male lover.

Sadly, Jamboree began to live a happy life after being rescued from the brutal circus. Tortured I made it run.

The 12-year-old was taken to the Swiss sanctuary to live the rest of his days, but was shy and timid after years of abuse.

After a lonely life without being around other bears, she was introduced to Meimo, and when the two defeated it together a few minutes later, love seemed to be in the air.

Jamboree has been determined to require surgery on her teeth to repair and sterilize the damage caused by years of abuse.

But tragically, after being given an anesthetic for surgery on Thursday, Jamboree suddenly stopped breathing and the vet was unable to revive her.

The staff at Arosa Bearland said she was overwhelmed by the news, but is grateful that she enjoyed a life that had been denied for some time.

torture

Her sad story began in 2009 when she was born in captivity at the Crimean zoo where bears were on display.

Only a few weeks later, she was taken away from her parents and sold to the circus.

She lived in a cage for over a decade, had never seen another bear, and was not allowed to act naturally.

Jamboreena was trained to perform tricks for the crowd, using a method that animal activists say is equivalent to torture.

New love

After being rescued by the Four Paws charity, she was sent to her new home on a 1,500-mile journey.

She was initially nervous and scared when she arrived after being tortured for years and forced to act for the crowd.

But she soon got used to her new home.

After waking up from her winter sleep, she was able to enjoy her for the first time in her life, so she seemed ready to enjoy the energetic, sociable and Alpine paradise.

Meimo has lived in the same sanctuary since she was rescued from prisoners of war in the Albanian city of Shkoder in 2019.

Dr. Hans Schmidt, Scientific Director of Arosa Bearland, was initially shy in Jamboree, but it only took a few minutes for the two to form a bond and participate in a friendly bear battle. I said I didn’t.

Autopsy is expected to provide further information about the previous illness that Jamboree may have suffered, perhaps explaining her sudden death.
