A search for a missing woman has found the body of a woman who was last seen getting into a taxi after her location tracker showed her mobile phone “suddenly switched off”.

Lacey Lake, 24, was last seen leaving Stonehouse in Plymouth in a gray Mercedes on Friday night.

Devon and Cornwall Police today announced that the woman’s body had been found and she was pronounced dead at the scene.

The death is being treated as unexplained, but the death is not believed to be suspicious at this time.

No formal identification has yet been made, but her grieving family has been informed.

Relatives took to social media to pay tribute to a girl who was “loved beyond words.”

“It is with sadness that we must announce to our friends and family that Lacey Lake has passed away and her body was found yesterday,” said her aunt Sarah French.

Devon and Cornwall Police today announced that the woman’s body had been found and she was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Lacey, you were loved beyond words and I don’t know how you will get through this. I hope you find peace with your mom. Always love our mini xxxx please.”

Mr Lacey was last seen leaving Stone House at around 6pm on Friday, wearing men’s tracksuit bottoms.

Her friends said her cell phone’s location services were then turned off.

She is said to be a type 1 diabetic and did not have insulin at the time of her disappearance.

One of Lacey’s friends said: “The best way to describe Lacey is that she is the moon. She is the biggest, brightest thing you can see in the darkness. Even in her own darkness she shines. There is,” he added.

“She loves deeply, cares deeply, and protects you with all her being. I wish we could have protected you.

“You will always be a big part of my life, the laughter, the tears, and especially the elation, you are one of a kind and always will be.”

The death is being treated as unexplained, but is not believed to be suspicious at this time.

“Police searching for a missing woman in Plymouth discovered her body today, January 7,” Devon and Cornwall Police said in a statement.

“Officers were called at around 1.20pm to concerns for the welfare of a woman living in Linton Close, Tamerton Foliot.

“Paramedics arrived, but the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

“While it is not believed to be a suspicious death at this time, this death is being treated as unexplained.

“The family of 24-year-old Lacey Lake, who was reported missing on Monday, January 6th, has been contacted.

“Formal identification has not yet taken place.”
