He said: “I received an email this morning from someone who was in the area the day after the murder.

“He found a car similar to the one used by Murdoch, parked on the side of the road near the culvert and bridge.

“He remembered passing by and saying that it was unusual for a driver to be parked in that position. He called the police at the time, but heard nothing more.

“I will certainly pass it on to the police and see if they go there in person to check it.”

Pangallo made the plea after receiving an email from the backpacker’s grieving mother, Joan, 75. ABC report.

The email said:

“Peter has a beautiful niece and two lovely nephews whom I never met or knew.

“I appeal to anyone of good conscience to help, no matter how small, to tell me where he is. [Peter] was placed. ”

The backpacker’s murder made headlines around the world, and authorities launched a massive police manhunt to find the culprit.

Peter was backpacking with his girlfriend Joanne Leeds27 years old, passed through Western Australia in July 2001.

On July 14, Joanne alerted a truck on Stuart Highway, saying she and her boyfriend from West Yorkshire were attacked after their camper van was stopped by a truck.

She claimed the driver shot Falconio before tying her up, but managed to escape and hid in bushes for 5 hours.

She later said: “It was either run away or be raped and killed.”

It was four years later that a tip-off led to the drug runner’s arrest bradley murdock.

The 45-year-old Murdoch, who had always maintained his innocence, was sentenced to life in prison in Darwin in December 2005 for the murder of Falconio and the attempted kidnapping of Joan Leeds.

He was diagnosed with cancer in 2020, and instead of moving him to a prison closer to his family, police finally tried to get a confession.

Murdoch can apply for parole starting in 2033, but his application will be denied if he does not reveal the location of Peter’s body.

Peter’s body has never been found and some believe there may be truth to the theory that he is still alive.
