According to Pakistani news, people rushed out of their homes, reciting prayers and poems from the Koran as the ground shook.

Aftershocks are still felt.

The state’s disaster management agency reports that most of the deaths were children.

At least four of the other victims were killed when the mine collapsed.

Rescuers are using heavy equipment to find survivors, but the number of deaths is expected to increase.

Over 100 mud homes have been destroyed and property, including government buildings, has been damaged.

Sohail Anwar, deputy commissioner of the city of Harnai, about 60 miles from Quetta, told Reuters that hundreds of people had lost their homes.

Some homes are buried under rubble and the area’s electricity supply is cut off.
