Manchester United should not replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with Antonio Conte, says club legend Peter Schmeichel.
He said Times: “I can say’Conte is great’, but he hasn’t stayed anywhere for more than two years.
“We are not that football club. We have already tried it. It doesn’t work.
“Louis van Gaal didn’t win the Premier League, but Mourinho didn’t. It makes no difference to say Conte or another name.
“It’s about them and what they want to do in a small window of Manchester United’s big history.
“The problem I have is that he has to win yesterday in this world of quick fix and quick news.
“We need to deliver now. But that’s not the real world. We stopped its development for a while and our competitors filled the gap and ran away.”
Schmeichel, 57, recently labeled Solskjar’s criticism as “ridiculous” and told ITV:
“It has been tried and brought in so-called famous managers, and they are not paying attention and attention to the details of youth and club development and DNA as I have.
“At that time before him, a lot of players came in and a lot of coaches left, so we need to rebuild everything. I want people to understand that it will take time.”
The Red Devils will face Liverpool tomorrow, knowing that if they win, they will reach within just one point from Jurgen Klopp’s side.
