Halina, 42, was fatally shot in October 2021 after Alec fired a support pistol, which it was told it was safe to use.
The Ukrainian filmmaker survived by her husband and their son.
Alec was devastated by the accidental shooting wrote an emotional letter about the incident.
Part of it reads: “To whom it may refer, this letter was written on behalf of the cast and crew of the film production, Rust. It is not sanctioned or influenced in any way by the producers. “
Alec continued: “We, the undersigned, believe that the public account of the tragedy at our workplace is inadequate and we want to express a more accurate account of our experience.
“We are hurt by the loss of our friend and colleague Halina Hutchins. It was at the heart of our production in many ways, and its loss hurt each of us.
Despite his obvious guilt and sadness, the 63-year-old is now on trial by Halina’s family.
The family has also sued El Dorado Pictures, Rust Movie Productions, Short Porch Picture and several others.

The case was filed today, Tuesday, February 15, and claims that Alec and the other defendants in the case “failed to perform standard safety checks” on the set of Santa Fe.
The lawsuit also alleges that they failed to comply with basic gun safety rules while using genuine weapons to produce the film Rust, with fatal consequences. The sun reports.
Part of the case reads: “Halina Hutchins deserved to live. Defendants had the power to prevent her death if only they kept sacred to their duty to protect the safety of every individual on the set of firearms instead of cutting corners of security procedures where human lives were at stake, rushing to schedule. and ignoring numerous complaints of security breaches. “
In a press release, family lawyer Christina Martinez added: “Industry standards require Mr Baldwin to be trained and qualified in safe handling and proper shooting procedures before accepting a revolver.
She continued: “The first firearms safety rule in a production kit required Mr Baldwin to treat all firearms as if they were loaded and to refrain from targeting firearms.
“The industry standard required Mr. Baldwin to remember that any person or object to which he pointed a firearm could be destroyed.”
The lawyer added that Alec was reportedly only four feet away from the cast and crew when he fired the gun.
