Alan Carr’s troubled husband faces prison after a judge tells him that it’s a miracle that no one was killed when he drove four times the drunk driving limit. ..
Paul Drayton, 50, was stopped by police after being seen “turning from one side to the other on the road,” and then returned to their car.
The incident happened 3 miles, 45 from the £ 2.7m pad he shares with Comic Alan.
He initially denied the charges, but today at the Magistrates’ Court in Brighton he admitted his guilt.
Asked by district judge Amanda Kelly if he was changing his plea, Drayton said: “Yes, yes.”
Drayton, who has a group of celebrities, including Adele, was warned that he was facing a prison.
The case was postponed due to a ruling.
He was charged last month at Broadbridge Heath in Horsham, West Sussex, for driving 153 mcg of alcohol with 100 ml of breath against the legal limit of 35 mcg.
CPS Melanie Watton told the court: “The police received a call about a potential drink driver near the co-op shortly before 3:00 pm on October 9.
“The police managed to find the silvery Mitsubishi.
“They noticed that it was turning left and right while chasing it.” They managed to stop the car.
“It’s clear that the driver is drunk.”
“Then, Mitsubishi goes back to the police car. It’s clear that the driver is drunk.
“He was unstable and uncoordinated, and was subsequently arrested.
“He was taken to a custodian suite, where he breathed 153 times.
“The reading is outside of sentencing guidelines, and they go up to 150.” Crown is asking for £ 150 because this wasn’t an early plea of guilty. “
District Judge Amanda Kelly told Drayton:
“The overwhelming possibility is that you go to jail.”
“I will order the pre-judgment report, but the overwhelming possibility is that you will go to jail.
“You endangered the masses by driving in that state.
“It’s an absolute miracle that you’re here today and haven’t killed or hurt the rest of the masses.
“You are no longer qualified to drive from today.
“As honest as possible and open to probation, but custody is likely.”
He was paid unconditional bail for the decision in January.
