Adele’s album made its most successful UK chart debut in four years, recording 261,000 first week sales and 55.7 million views on 12 tracks.
Ed Sheeran’s Divide was Adele’s last album to open with the long-awaited record 30 in 2017.
It is also the biggest opener for female solo artists since the last album in 2015.
In addition to this week’s stream of 55 million individual songs, 67% of the album’s sales were physical, of which 16,700 were vinyl records.
Adele It also dominates the singles chart, with Easy On Me at number one in six weeks, followed by 101,000 sales and 11.5 million streams.
This surpasses her previous record at Someone Like You’s five-week top spot.
According to the Official Charts Company, she is also straight into Nos. 2 and 4 on the Oh My God and I Drink Wine tracks.
The rest of the album chart consists of two new releases of Ed Sheeran’s Equal, three of ABBA’s Voyage, four of Oasis’s Live Knebworth Records, and five of Robert Plant and Alison Krauss’s Raise the Roof.
Sealan is also the only person on the single chart to prevent Adele’s top five lockouts-three Shivers and five Bad Habits.
Adele’s tens of millions of weekly streams have influenced her this week Force the changes to the streaming giant Spotify.
After Adele described it as the “only requirement” in the “continuously changing” music industry, the automatic shuffling of albums stopped.
She posted that the artist never “thinks so carefully in our track list to create an album for no reason.”
The streaming service has announced its acquiescence by tweeting “anything for you.”
Adele added: “Our art tells a story. Our story needs to be heard as intended. Thank you for listening to Spotify.”
