Actress Florence Pugh slams ‘vulgar’ men for see-through dress she wore to Valentino show | UK news

British actress Florence Pugh has hit back at social media users who criticized her body after she wore a see-through dress that showed off her breasts at a fashion show.

In an Instagram post on Sunday, she defended her dress choice, saying: “I was excited to wear it, not a wink of nervousness. I wasn’t before, during or even now after.”

The Midsommar actress walked the red carpet at the Valentino Haute Couture show in Rome on Friday in an eye-catching pink dress, which she suggested was specially designed by the brand’s creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli.

On Saturday, the star wrote on Instagram, “Are they technically covered?” and called on the public to “free the fucking nipple,” in an apparent reference to Instagram’s nudity guidelines, which prohibit images of female nipples but not male nipples.

The 26-year-old said on Sunday that she had always expected the comment but found it “interesting to watch… how easy it is for men to completely destroy a woman’s body, publicly, proudly, for all to see”.

Her message on Sunday night was liked more than 500,000 times within an hour of its appearance.

“This isn’t the first time and it certainly won’t be the last time a woman will hear what’s wrong with her body from a crowd of strangers, what’s alarming is how vulgar some of you men can be,” she writes next to her 7.4 million Instagram followers.

Addressing those who have criticized her breast size, Pugh said she has come to accept “the subtleties of my body that make me me” and is now “happy with all the ‘flaws’ that I can’t stand to watching when I was 14”.

The actress said the reaction left her wondering “what happened to you to be so pleased that you are so loudly upset about the size of my boobs and body?”

She “promises[d]” to those who had insulted her that life would be “a lot easier” if they respected bodies, all women and people.
