The White House in the United States is located on Capitol Hill, Washington, DC and has been used by all presidents since John Adams in 1800.

The mansion was designed in a neoclassical style by Irish-born architect James Hoban and is modeled after the Leinster House in Dublin.

From 1792 to 2021: How the White House has changed over the years

The White House was designed in a neoclassical style by Irish architect James Hoban. It is modeled after the Leinster House in Dublin, the location of Oireachtas (Irish Parliament).

It is classified as a national heritage owned by the National Park Service and is part of the President’s Park.

Hoban’s design work began in 1792 and was not completed until 1800. When Thomas Jefferson moved the following year, he added one lower colonnade to each wing of the mansion.

During the War of 1812, the mansion was fired by British troops and the interior was destroyed. The reconstruction took several years, and James Monroe was able to move home in 1817.

A semi-circular south portico entrance was added in 1824, and a north portico entrance was added in 1829. By 1901, Theodore Roosevelt had moved all of his work offices to the West Wing, and William Howard Taft expanded it to create an oval office eight years later.

In 1948, it was discovered that the bearing wall of the building was on the verge of collapse. Harry S. Truman ordered the interior room to be demolished and rebuilt using an internal load-bearing steel frame.

He also added a Truman balcony.

Today’s White House complex includes a six-story Executive Residence, West Wing, East Wing, Eisenhower Executive Office Building, and Guest Residence Blair House.

Sandridge Park Mansion: Refurbished Grade I House Visited by Edward VII

The Sandridge Park condominium is located on the grounds designed by 19th century landscape designer Humpsley Lepton.

The house itself is a completely refurbished version of the Grade I John Nash Mansion, where Edward VII attended the shooting party.

Wealthy London families have lived at home since the 17th century.

Sir Claude Scott bought the house in 1795, destroyed it with the advice of Humphry Repton, built the current mansion on the opposite slope, and created a park. The majestic stucco-finished house was designed by John Nash and completed under the guidance of Samuel Wyatt.

The park became a golf course and a new clubhouse was opened by Prime Minister Arthur Balfour in 1903.

Sandridge Park Mansion functioned as a luxury hotel until after World War II and became a management center in 1956. A new residential area was completed in 1970.

The grand staircase, plastering work, and 18th-century paintings have been restored. The house is reached via the estate lodge entrance and a half-mile drive next to the fairway.
