A truck driver stuck at a railroad crossing jumps from his car just as a freight train collides with him.

This is the thrilling moment a truck driver stranded at a level crossing is forced to jump to safety seconds before a freight train destroys his vehicle.

Footage taken by a horrified witness showed a construction truck laden with debris stuck at the A2 junction between Marienborn and Bersdorf in the Verde district of Saxony-Anhalt around midday on Friday.

A freight train carrying several new Audi cars collided with a truck and was dragged at high speed toward the driver, who desperately tried to brake.

I could see debris flying high and far away.

Germany’s Bild newspaper reported that rubble and parts from the destroyed truck were dragged for more than 100 meters as the cargo ship slowed to a stop.

A paramedic at the scene told the newspaper: “A technical fault caused the accident.”

“The truck driver managed to call emergency services before returning to safety.”

Local media reported that the train driver suffered minor injuries in the accident, but the truck and locomotive were completely destroyed.

The railroad crossing will reportedly be closed until at least Wednesday as authorities investigate and resolve the incident.

As a result, major rail lines were severely disrupted.

As a result, long-distance trains to and from Hannover have been rerouted via Wolfsburg and Stendal, increasing journey times by 20 minutes.

Partial road closures were also imposed across the region.
