Nina Doran, 52, desperately wanted to recover at Liverpool City College after being fired for misconduct and breach of trust. His dismissal led to a mass protest by the College, located in the heart of the city.

Speaking today, Nina said. “I am devastated. I think I would have hoped, because obviously this is the last chance for the existing internal processes, և because our arguments were so great, I thought that at least one would persuade the employer to reconsider their disciplinary decision.

“I was just devastated. I have not read the whole verdict yet, because I can not stand it. I can only read the parts in the morning so I can sleep at night later. But I just could not read. Before doing so, I just read the beginning and the end.

“Appeal is the last chance inside, then you are outside, you really only have the outside route.”

Nina joined the college in 1991. in September. In addition to his teaching positions, he has also been a representative of the UCU branch of the Universities College at City College and has established contact with the UCU National Office to organize trade union workers during industrial disputes.

The specialist says that he is now discussing his next action in consultation with union officials.

He insists the college’s UCU members will continue their efforts to rehabilitate him.

A spokesman for Liverpool City College said: “College does not easily refer to the suspension or dismissal of any employee. We take our responsibilities as an employer very seriously, especially as an educational institution.

“Any decision to dismiss a staff member is always a last resort.”
