Warwick Davis, known for his role in Harry Potter, is suing a London hospital for medical negligence after the death of his wife, Samantha, who passed away at 53 in March 2024. Mr Warwick, 54, instructed law firm Irwin Mitchell to represent Samantha’s family after her death, and medical malpractice lawyer Madeleine Nugent worked with the family to resolve her death. The situation is being further investigated.
Coroner Mrs Jean Harkin said today that the circumstances surrounding Samantha’s death would be answered at the inquest.
Mr Warwick and his daughter Annabelle, 27, were due to take part in the proceedings today, which was held remotely from Inner West London Coroner’s Court.
However, the hearing was adjourned before the evidence could be submitted to court because Mr Warwick was unable to connect remotely.
William Chapman, a lawyer for the Davis family, told the court that Mr Warwick’s internet connection to his “team hearing” had “continued to drop out”.
The lawyer then suggested that the hearing be postponed to ensure that Warrick could proceed with the inquest and make his full contribution.

Assistant coroner Jean Harkin, who agreed to the postponement, told the court: “Warwick Davis would probably want to participate in this inquest process.”
“At the next hearing, I will make sure that nothing is written in the diary that day…When I re-enter it, I will do it all day long.” [the inquest]. ”
“We are pleased with your proposal and appreciate it,” William Chapman responded, adding that the family would like to see the trial held remotely again.
The inquest, which has been adjourned to a future date “as soon as possible”, will examine whether the treatment Samantha received at University College London Hospital for a spinal condition contributed to her death.
She suffered from sepsis in 2019 and was placed in intensive care. This followed spinal surgery at University College London Hospital.
Samantha met her husband of 33 years during an uncredited role in the 1988 film Willow.
The couple married in 1991 and had three children, Lloyd, Harrison and Annabelle, but tragically their eldest son died at just nine days old.

The couple’s children said they were “honored to receive such love from her.”

“Her death has left a huge hole in our family’s lives,” the 54-year-old said in a statement. “I miss her hugs.”
He called Sammy “one of my most trusted confidants and a huge supporter of everything I’ve done in my career.”
He added: “She was a unique character and always looked on the bright side of life. She had a wicked sense of humor and always laughed at my bad jokes.”
The couple’s children, Harrison and Annabelle, said: “Her love and happiness sustained us all our lives.” “My mother is our best friend and we are honored to receive her love,” they added.
As a child, Samantha was diagnosed with achondroplasia, a bone growth disorder that causes dwarfism.
Her husband also has a similar disease, congenital spondyloephyseal dysplasia. That means his height never grew more than 3 feet 6 inches.
After Samantha’s death, Warwick He said he felt like he could accomplish anything with his wife by his side, as if he had “superpowers.”

Mr Warwick said his wife’s athletic ability had declined in recent years, but told how this made her determined to keep fit.
In 2019, before a family trip, she developed sepsis and was prepared to die.
The actor and his wife married in 1991 when their baby son, Lloyd, died just nine days after he was born.
Mr Davis said he didn’t want anyone to go through a “devastating” experience in 2022, adding: “We’ll never recover.”
He and Ms Davies, who co-founded the charity Little People UK, met when Mr Davies played the role of magician Willow Ufgood in a 1988 film.
Davis and her father, Peter, who is Davis’ business partner, played bit roles as villagers.
She also played an uncredited role as the Goblin in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 in 2011, and Davies last played Hogwarts Charm Professor Phileas Flitwick.
In 1989, she appeared in the BBC educational series Through the Dragon’s Eye.
Davis and Burrows, 77, co-founded Willow Management in 1995 with the aim of changing the way people with dwarfism are represented on screen.
